Holiday Open Houses and Santa Parade set for Nov. 25, 2011
The Boyne City Holiday Open House & Santa Parade, held the Friday after Thanksgiving, is a tradition in Boyne City and that tradition continues this year. To make it a true community celebration of the season, everyone is invited to participate - from businesses and organizations with floats, to children dressed in their holiday finest, to businesses offering great shopping, refreshments and hospitality. The goal is to fill Boyne City's downtown with all the sounds, sights, and smells of the Christmas season. The parade begins at 6 p.m. and the evening's special guest is the Jolly Old Man from the North. Santa will arrive on his sleigh, joined by some of his elves, and some reindeer from the North Pole. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and lineup is at 5:30 on East Main Street between East and Lake Streets. The parade route will follow Lake Street to Water Street through the heart of downtown Boyne City. After the parade, there will be hay rides, and Santa will meet with children at the gazebo in Old City Park at the corner of River and Park Streets and refreshments will be served to all of Santa's guests. 'Earlier than the Bird' shoppers get head start Nov. 19, 2011
There will be plenty of holiday shopping available from 31 Boyne City businesses participating in the second annual "Earlier Than The Bird" holiday shopping event on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 7 to 11 a.m. "Jump out of bed early, grab your friends and family and come to Boyne City to see all that it has to offer this holiday season," said organizers of the event. The event is created for those who want to kick off the holiday shopping season with friends, fantastic shopping deals, coffee and pastries, all while in the comfort of their pajamas. By holding the event the Saturday before Thanksgiving, merchants are inviting customers to come and get an "early bird" preview of all the great holiday shopping available in Boyne City. Stores and restaurants will be offering special deals along with holiday treats. In addition, those shoppers wearing their pajamas will receive a souvenir coffee mug. Sorry, sweats and workout clothes are not eligible as pajamas. The event is sponsored by the Main Street Program / DDA and the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce. The special offers below are good from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.19. Shoppers are encouraged to stop at the Chamber office, 28 S. Lake St., where they will receive a souvenir coffee mug if they are wearing their pajamas. Kids in their pajamas get a cute Christmas bear or moose.
