The Chamber hosts a "State of the Community" Luncheon every fall, featuring updates from the City of Boyne City, Charlevoix County, the Boyne City Public Schools and the Boyne City Main Street Program. Here is a news story about the upbeat 2011 event from the Petoskey News-Review:

Community leaders and city residents gathered to celebrate Boyne City's accomplishments during the last year, as well as look to the future with high expectations for themselves. More than 100 attended the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce third annual State of the Community luncheon on Friday, Nov. 18, at Sommerset Pointe. Speakers included Hugh Conklin, Boyne City Main Street program manager, Chris Christensen, county commissioner from Boyne City, Peter Moss, Boyne City schools' superintendent and Michael Cain, Boyne City manager. All speakers pointed out successes during the last year -- Boyne City's coming new logo, facade improvements at downtown businesses, grants for community projects, lower taxes across the county, broadband Internet cables on the way, possible park expansions, voter-approved technology spending at the schools, awards for early childhood education, new businesses in town and more. But still, Boyne City isn't ready to rest. Full story.
