High School Social Studies Teacher

Boyne City Public Schools has an opening for a full-time High School Social Studies Teacher.  This position will be for the 2022-2023 school year.

Qualifications:

1. Active teaching certificate in Secondary Social Studies (RX) endorsements. Specific endorsements within the umbrella of social studies will also be considered.   

2. Experience with Advanced Placement or dual enrollment courses desired but not required.

3. The candidate must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge, understanding, evaluative skills, critical inquiry, and ability to teach Secondary Science content, processes, and skills inclusive of those in Michigan’s K-12 Curriculum Framework and Benchmarks, and Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE) in accordance with the Universal Education Vision and Principles, and State Board of Education (SBE) Educational Technology Standards and Expectations.

4. The candidate must be able to demonstrate or show evidence of quality experiences with adolescent-aged students. The successful candidate must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the various populations they will be working with. 

Reports to: High School Principal

Job Goal: The high school teacher performs duties assigned in a competent and professional manner in accordance with the established policies and regulations of the Board of Education and the laws of the State.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. A strong background in teaching or other related fields of instruction.

2. Knowledge of research-based instructional and special education practices.

3. The ability to teach a variety of ability-level students in the same classroom.

4. Working knowledge of the Special Education laws and procedures.

5. Demonstration of effective classroom management techniques with high levels of student engagement.

6. Demonstration of effective integration of technology into their instruction.

7. The ability to work in a team environment towards the individual classroom, building, and district goals.

8. Exhibits strong organizational skills and has the ability to communicate effectively with various populations.

9. Ability to coach/support extra-curricular learning.
