We love bikes! That's why North Country Cycle exists - to share our passion with the Northern Michigan community and help people on their cycling journey. And it goes beyond what we do in the shop. We are community advocates - actively involved with trail building in the summer, grooming in the winter, organizing local races and bringing the community together with events.
Responsibilities:
- Complete basic to mid-level tune ups
- Build basic to high-end bicycles
- This includes the ability to:
- Remove, install, and adjust drivetrain components
- Adjust brakes
- Bleed brakes
- True wheels
- Remove install tires/tubes
- Work with tubeless tire setups
- Remove, install, service bearings such as bottom brackets, hubs, headsets, etc.
- Remove and install suspension
- If you are unfamiliar with some of these items, we love teaching!
- Assist visitors with quick fixes
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Occasionally answer phone
- Occasionally check people out for things they would like to purchase
Requirements:
- Must ride bikes!
- Mechanically inclined
- Open minded and willing to learn
- Strong work ethic and self motivated
- Good communicator
- Basic knowledge of computers and use of programs such as Excel
- Organized
- Lift 50 lbs
Note: There is also a part-time tech position available.
