    SATURDAY, SEPT 21, 2019 7:00 pm - Great Lakes Center for the Arts Libor Ondras, Soloist, Conductor David Lockington, Guest Conductor Pre-concert talk with Libor and David at special time- 5:45 PM Tickets: $25-50, age 18 under Free The Violet Viola Concerto (World Premiere) Rossini: Overture from Il Signor Bruschino David Lockington: The Violet Viola Concerto – WORLD PREMIERE Ginastera: Variaciones Concertantes The GLCO is honored to welcome distinguished composer (and cellist), David Lockington to the podium conducting the world premiere of his new work, The Violet Viola Concerto. This newly commissioned piece was inspired by the birth of Lockington’s granddaughter, Violet, and features GLCO Music Director Libor Ondras playing viola and David Lockington conducting. The Violet Viola Concerto was commissioned through a generous gift from Dr. Robert and Alice Pattengale. The Ginastea Variations express an Argentinian flare, using an original theme with eleven variations, each one reflecting the distinctive character of the instrument featured.
