    Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:
Properly working septic systems are essential to the health of Michigan fresh waters and Michigan citizens, yet Michigan is the only state without uniform regulations to prevent septic systems from polluting our waters.  Experts estimate that almost half of Michigan rivers and streams exceed the safety standard for concentrations of E. coli bacteria, which is an indication of fecal pollution in the water.

The League of Women Voters Northern Lower Michigan and the Petoskey District Library will present a public forum, Protecting Our Health and Waters: Why Effective Septic Systems Matteron Thursday April 18th from 5:30-7pm in the Petoskey District Library lower-level classroom and also by Zoom. Two local experts in septic regulation and health implications of septic pollution will provide information on the health issues related to fecal bacteria in Michigan waters and current efforts to reduce septic system pollution.  Registration is required.
