James Richman, a financial advisor with the Boyne City office of Edward Jones, has joined the board of directors of the Boyne Area Chamber. Richman was appointed to fill a board position previously held by Chris Bandy. Chamber Executive Director Kim Akin said, "We are happy to have James join our board, and we extend our thanks to Chris Bandy, who served on the board for nearly three years, including one year as board president."
Richman said, "I'm excited for the opportunity to work with the people on the chamber board. It's a good, diverse group of people. I enjoy what I call the Boyne City attitude. People really want to work together - rich or poor, Democrat or Republican, it doesn't matter. People come together and accomplish things here."
Richman grew up in Harbor Springs, earned a bachelor's degree from Olivet College and went on to receive an Executive MBA from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 2010. He moved away from Northern Michigan for 14 years, teaching sixth grade in Florida, and working as a realtor in Kansas City, but then "I wanted to come home."
James and his wife Anastasia just celebrated their first wedding anniversary after getting married under the Gazebo in Old City Park with a reception at the Veterans Park Pavilion. They now live in the Harborage Park area of Boyne City. James is an active member of the Boyne Valley Lions Club.
