Avalanche Fat Bike Race, Stiggs anniversary party planned for Jan. 20
Plans are in the works for an Avalanche Fat Bike Race to be held in Boyne City on Saturday, January 20th. The race is being organized by Mike Cortright and North Country Cycle Sport and also involves Stiggs Brewery and Kitchen, which will be celebrating its first anniversary that day. Cortright says the race will start in downtown Boyne City near his shop and Stiggs, proceeding to Avalanche Mountain, where most of the race will be conducted. Stiggs plans to put up a tent in their parking lot and will serve food and beer with a band playing after the race. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Top Of Michigan Mountain Bike Association, the group that spearheaded a major expansion of trails at Avalanche over the past couple of years. More race details and online registration will be announced soon in the Chamber/Main Street e-newsletter and via North Country Cycle Sport on Facebook.
