The Boyne area has been chosen as the host community for the 2019 Harley Owners Group (HOG) Annual Rally, known as the “Great Lakes HOG Rally.” The event, held over three days from July 18-20, 2019, will attract in excess of 2,000 attendees per day and result in an estimated direct impact of $3-$4 million in local spending.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be chosen as the host community,” says Ashley Cousens, Executive Director of the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce. “This event will not only bring a strong financial impact to our area hotels and businesses, but more importantly it will introduce the Boyne area as a return vacation destination to thousands of people across the country.”
“The big selling point for the Boyne area is the uncrowded curvy roads, which are perfect for motorcycle rides,” says Todd “Thor” Robinson, HOG regional Manager. “Combined with the beautiful scenery and welcoming people, it’s a perfect setting for a rally. I’m so excited to bring this event back to the area.”
“One of our most successful rallies was held in the Boyne area at Boyne Mountain in 2011.  As the returning Rally Coordinator, I am looking forward to the great hospitality we were welcomed with in 2011. HOG is all about riding and having fun and the Boyne area is a perfect setting for both.”
While the majority of the event is being held for the benefit of registered Harley Owners Group members, there will be a opportunities for the public to participate in festivities. A Harley-Davidson demo truck will showcase the newest models and let the public test ride a Harley-Davidson, and a motorcycle parade through the Boyne area is being planned.
Throughout the duration of the three-day event, participants will embark on local and regional rides showcasing the unique attractions, off-the-beaten-path destinations, and beautiful countryside in the Northern Michigan region.
